Trying to be brave...

So I was half forced to be brave on Friday - but it was also my choice too.. I had a Dr. appointment for Kaelyn and my 1 week check.. so do I hire a babysitter or decide to be brave and take both my kids? I decided I might as well take both my kids and get my first outting done with :) So I packed TJ his little backpack and my own diaper bag - packed up the kids.. and drove off to the Dr. office.. normally they are really fast at getting me in but of course that day took about 45 min of waiting!! for the first 30 min or so TJ was really good, playing with the toys and other kids.. and then he got the idea that he wanted to go to the car and I had my hands FULL trying to convince him or distract him to stay in the waiting room!! once we were in the office he was entertained once again :) and the Dr. said everything looks good for both me and the little one! My next trip out is on Sunday - I am going to try and take TJ to Sunday school and church (of course me and Kaelyn are going too) by myself - church is always the hardest because nursery doesn't start until half way through the service and TJ cannot sit still that long.. I'm lucky if he sits still for 10 minutes!! Anyway here are some more pics :) enjoy!

Birth Story

*Disclaimer* The following is my birth story - so don't read unless you want details :)

Hopefully I can finish this before my kids wake up :) So I ended up going in for induction on Thursday, September 20 - I was admitted and the nurse hooked me up to the moniter for about 15 min and then the Dr. came in and gave me the gel for induction at 9am. About 5 minutes later the contractions started coming and were 10-12 minutes apart from the start. We walked around for a while since the contractions were not too bad - around noon things started getting more intense as I was going into active labor. Around 1 pm I was ready to take something for the pain and so the nurse came and checked me at 1:30 and I was only 3-4ish cm; I was disappointed since I thought I would be further. Then at 2 she checked me again and I was 6cm and from around that time I had to really fight not to push since I was feeling the urge but my cervix was not ready yet.. I think that was the hardest part - fighting against the urge!! ...finally by 3pm I was pretty much 10cm and the nurse was able to slip the cervix around the baby's head during a contraction. So I was finally able to start pushing - things continued to be fairly intense compared to when my son was born because when we started delivery my contractions slowed right down, but not this time.. After 18 minutes of pushing my little Kaelyn was born!! So over all everything went really well and fast :) Kaelyn is doing really well - she's sleeping good at night too, so that is a lifesaver - it makes such a big difference! She nurses at 12 midnight - ish and then around 4:30-5:30 and then 8:30 - 9:30 - ish.. and Tristian seems to be adjusting fairly well altho he is still a two year old (pretty much) so tantrums are still something we have to deal with! Anyway here are some pictures :) Enjoy!

Thoughts on my last day..

So today is (unless something unexpected happens) my last day as a mother of one.. as my husband put it - 'we are going to be parents again'. Such simple words and yet it does make me reflect.. I have tried to make an effort to really enjoy my son and spend some extra time with him this past week as I know that things will be changing greatly in this household again! I am excited for tomorrow and nervous at the same time - like will I remember how to take care of a baby again? Will I be able to breastfeed again? Will my baby be good or cry all the time? will I be able to handle the hormone rush one more time? and so much more - but I know that is all normal.. and I know that things will work out just fine.. it's just one more step into the unknown :)

P.S. Check out Stacey's contest at Fun with the Friesens she is giving away a nursing bracelet from Amy May's Mei Tai's Store. Stacey's got pics and info to enter so check it out.

Quad rides and Muffins :)

So here are a few of the pictures that I promised :) Kevin bought Tristian a small toy quad that came with a Spiderman figure... Tristian has not put it down ever since.. the other day I caught Tristian trying to get a ride on his 'quad' :)
In the last picture he is actually sitting on the quad altho you can't really see it.. and the funny thing is he is holding onto the handlebars like a real quad!!
So today I decided to make some yummy muffins (Stacey posted the recipe on her blog a little while ago) and my son enjoyed licking the peanut butter off the scraper :) (oh and the muffins are even better than I thought!!)
Here are some other random pictures...
Tristian playing with a friends little girl.
Tristian squatting like he's ready to jump.. sometimes he walks around like this - it's so cute!

Just so you know :)

Well.. today is my due date.. Happy Due Date Day!! haha.. today is supposed to be another beautiful day so maybe I'll get out and walk again.. anything will help right?? So what have I been up to?? Well I finished sewing my own nursing pillow (like a boppy pillow), and I also made a small rag quilt which I also finished.. so now I am done my little projects - what else can I do while I wait? I did have some pictures that I took yesterday that I wanted to put up but this morning my husband must have took the camera to work with him - so I can't really... sorry I tried to get something more interesting up here :) Soon - hopefully - there will be tonz of baby pictures up here!! Well Andrea tagged me so I will do my due duty :)

Post these rules before you give the facts. You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.) When you are tagged you need to write your own blog-post and then choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don't' forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

D - dancing - I love to dance!! not that I can dance that well (especially now) but I love to move to the music! I have take oriental dance lessons once (it was tonz of fun!) - but I would love to take other types of dance classes eventually (if time ever allows - haha)
E - eating - now this may make me sound like a glutton, but I love to eat - I love to try new things (mostly)... I love going to a new restaurant so I can try something new - sometimes it works out, sometimes I get yucky food - but mostly it works out :)
N - neat - now if you know me at all, you know that this is really not me!! Don't get me wrong, I love a neat house - but it gets that way probably twice a year if I'm lucky!!
I - ice cream - hehe.. oh I love ice cream!! me and Andrea share that secret pleasure by the 4 litre pail!!! haha..
S - surprises - I love surprises!! but unfortunately my hubby is not that good at all at giving surprises! He gets too excited himself and usually ends up giving it away :)
E - eager - I am eager to meet this baby!! I can't believe the time is here already - but I am pretty excited to see what another kevin/ellen baby will look/act like!

So now I have done my part - I tag the following people to do the same.. Susanna, Valean, Allie - everyone else I could think of has already been tagged - so thats it for me :)

Two days left..

So my due date is coming in two days.. I think I am going to have another baby that's a little stubborn :) Time seems so long yet I know it really is so short! I made myself a nursing pillow (like a Boppy Pillow) the other day and now I am working on a small rag quilt. My mom had got me and my sister-in-law both sewing machines for Christmas last year.. we didn't have really good luck with the first ones, and so we exchanged them for new ones and I decided that I really should try mine out. I really like it, it works really nice.. there is so much that it can do - I don't even know the half of it :)

Anyway, I got a video of my little guy and his new toy :) He just loves the trampoline and in 2 days he learned how to actually jump with both feet at the same time! Check it out..

39 Week Appointment..

So as I am approaching my due date, I am starting to really think that I am going to have to learn some more patience!! I had my Dr. appointment and no changes.. I think my gurl is a snuggle-er and probably too content and wants to stay where she is :) I am now preparing myself that I will probably go overdue and probably end up being induced.. altho that is not the worst thing in the world.. my induction with my son went really well. But either way in two weeks or so I get to be introduced to my bundle of joy :) I am excited but I know it will be bitter-sweet.. why?? Well I know that I would never change having a baby for anything in the world!! I love my child SO much already - I don't even have the capacity to say (all you mothers know what I mean) but at the same time once the little one is here, I will wonder why I wished away my last weeks of having only one child to care for :) Don't get me wrong on this one.. I am cherishing every moment with my son, every moment being pregnant (except for the sore hips!!), and every moment of this life journey!! What a blessing it is to have kids and to be able to bear children - I think it makes me feel so alive and uniquely feminine! Just remind me of this when I feel like I am falling apart and can't handle it!! haha..

Week 38 and counting...

So I had my 38 week Dr appointment on Thursday, and all is well. Baby is still head down (YAY) but still really high (as my cervix is high still). I should have figured that baby wouldn't drop this early, I didn't drop at all in my first pregnancy (until I was induced obviously), but I had been hoping :) So I am not really expecting anything until my due date (altho it would be a nice surprise a little early). Anyway I gotta go - just thought I'd let you know how things are going :)
